When We Work Together We Can Accomplish Great Things!
Working In The Rain

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:23

October Books, a co-op bookstore in England, lost its lease but found a new building just down the block. The only problem was that there were thousands of books to be moved! A call went out to members for help, but when the time came it was a cold and drizzly day and there was little hope that many people would come. Surprisingly, nearly 200 people showed up! Moving the books was easy - they formed a human chain that stretched from the old store to the new one and the books were moved in 30 minutes! I don’t suppose that many of the people were excited about going out in that weather but I’m sure they felt great that the job got done so quickly.

Sometimes we don’t want to do something but we participate because our comrades are involved and afterwards we are glad we were a part of doing something worthwhile. Part of being a Christian is supporting the work of the church even when we don’t feel like it. Many thanks to our many volunteers in LifeSpring! As we work on RotC, may we all get involved even when it seems like going out on a cold and drizzly day. We will feel great when the job is done.

ACTION: Is there some area of your life (work, church school, family, etc.) where you have purposely avoided getting involved even though your participation would be helpful? Give that some thought and prayer - perhaps it’s time to act.

FAMILY: What do we do to avoid doing things we don’t want to do?
